A Kansas City man faces two Murder 1st Degree, other charges for the Dec. 7, 2017, shooting of his father and convenience store clerk on the scene, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Reginald E. Jones Jr., 1/27/1999, faces two counts of Murder 1st Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed today, the defendant, Reginald E. Jones Jr., was observed on the evening of Dec. 7, 2017 at a grocery store in the 4500 block of East 24th Street. Surveillance video showed him pointing a gun at his father outside the store on the sidewalk. When the father turned to enter the store, the defendant shoots him multiple times. The defendant then points the gun at the second victim and shoots him. The defendant’s DOR photos reveal a distinguishing characteristic on the defendant’s face, which can also be observed in the surveillance video. The defendant admitted to being at the grocery store that night after being called there by the victim.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $500,000 cash.
