On Saturday, March 10th, members of KCPD, Jackson County Prosecutor's Office, and community members canvassed sections of Northeast Kansas City in an effort to reduce violent crime, identify needed city services and provide resources to residents. Participants canvassed approximately 500 homes and were joined by volunteer interpreters to bridge any language barriers. These efforts were on behalf of the Kansas City No Violence Alliance (KC NoVA), a collaboration of local, state and federal law enforcement, social services, and community partners dedicated to reducing violence crime in Kansas City. This is done by identifying those causing the most harm to the community and offering them assistance to escape the life of crime; however, if they continue to engage in violence, notifying them that we will utilize enforcement partners to remove them from the community.
